Chappell Roan has responded to accusations made by Brazilian soccer star Jorginho Frello, who took to social media to complain that her security guards made his stepdaughter cry when she encountered the singer at a hotel in Brazil.

The incident allegedly occurred during breakfast in a S茫o Paulo hotel, with Frello saying his stepdaughter 鈥渟imply walked past the singer鈥檚 table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum鈥. The football player posted his criticisms on Instagram on Saturday, saying the 11-year-old was 鈥渆xtremely shaken and cried a lot鈥.

Frello is married to Catherine Hardy, who shares an 11-year-old daughter named Ada Law with former partner Jude Law. The family were staying in the hotel to attend the Lollapalooza Brazil festival, where Roan is headlining.

鈥淲hat happened next was completely disproportionate. A large security guard came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and daughter, saying that she shouldn鈥檛 allow my daughter to 鈥榙isrespect鈥 or 鈥榟arass鈥 other people,鈥 Frello said.

鈥淗e even said he would file a complaint against them with the hotel, while my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears.聽 Without your fans, you would be nothing, and to the fans, she does not deserve your attention.鈥

Chappell Roan has since responded on her own social media, saying Jorginho鈥檚 stepdaughter 鈥渄id not deserve that鈥, and the situation had 鈥渕ade her really sad鈥. She also specifies that the security involved in the incident was not a part of her team.

鈥淚鈥檓 just going to tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard who is not my personal security,鈥 she said.

鈥淚 didn鈥檛 even see, I didn鈥檛 even see a woman and a child like 鈥 no one came up to me, no one bothered me, like I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel.

鈥淚 think these people were staying at the hotel as well. So, the fact that, like a security guard, who was 鈥 I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child, I did not.

鈥淭hey did not come up to me. They weren鈥檛 doing anything. It鈥檚 unfair for security to just assume someone doesn鈥檛 have good intentions when they have no reason to believe, because there鈥檚 no action even taken.鈥

Roan has previously been with fan interactions, describing by fans, and saying she and her family have been stalked and harassed both in person and online. This has led to intense scrutiny and criticism of the singer, who had a meteoric rise to fame very suddenly.

In her Instagram video response, she confirms: 鈥淚 do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children 鈥 that is crazy.”
