Heartthrob Colton Haynes comes out as gay
HOLLYWOOD聽heartthrob Colton Haynes has been hounded by rumours about his聽sexuality聽for as long as he’s been working in the industry.
But the former Arrow and Teen Wolf star has finally set the record straight – well figuratively – confirming that he is gay.
“I should have made a comment or a statement, but I just wasn’t ready,” he .
“I didn鈥檛 feel like I owed anyone anything. I think in due time, everyone has to make those decisions when they鈥檙e ready, and I wasn鈥檛 yet. But I felt like I was letting people down by not coming forward with the rest of what I should have said.鈥�
Haynes made the decision to come out after an incident in January when he commented on a Tumblr post about his ‘secret gay past’.
“Was it a secret?” he asked at the time.
That simple question made聽headlines, with media outlets speculating about his sexuality once again.
鈥淧eople want you to be that GQ image that you put out, but people don鈥檛 realise what it鈥檚 like to act 24 hours a day. I鈥檇 go home and I was still acting,鈥� he said.
鈥淧eople who are so judgmental about those who are gay or different don鈥檛 realise that acting 24 hours a day is the most exhausting thing in the world.鈥�
Haynes told Entertainment Weekly that he has been openly gay since high school with his family, friends, cast members and bosses, but felt pressure to keep his sexuality under wraps for his career.
