
New listeners of JOY up by the thousands
AUSTRALIA’S first gay and lesbian radio station JOY 94.9 has had an unprecedented, dramatic increase in its聽monthly listenership in the past eight months.
A McNair survey found more listeners were聽tuning in for longer during the week, attracting an extra 31,000 monthly listeners since the last survey in聽October 2015.
The monthly audience reach has increased to 372,000 with the majority of new listeners聽tuning into聽the weekday breakfast programs.
鈥淥ur breakfast programs have been working very hard on their content, making sure they鈥檙e keeping聽listeners uplifted and entertained, as well as updated on local events,鈥 JOY 94.9 program director James Findlay聽said.
鈥淥ur diverse range of personalities are evidently connecting with listeners, which is fantastic to see.”
The increase in listeners as the station unveils its newest program grid with eleven new programs covering lots of different areas including; a rainbow family program, a bisexual program and聽more indigenous programming as some of the highlights.
Two JOY聽favourite presenters return to the airwaves this grid; Gillian Bartlett best known for her time on聽the G-Spot and the Airbags brings The Silverfox to Saturday afternoons, taking a look at the best baby-boomer aspects, and former popular breakfast host from Andy and Adrian, Adrian Perillo-Phillips joins the聽team on Family Matters.
