Parramatta’s Riverside Theatre to showcase gay and lesbian film this weekend

STARTING tonight, Parramatta’s Riverside Theatre will showcase聽highlights of the 2015 Mardi Gras Film Festival.

The theatre will feature five films over weekend, aiming to expose western Sydney to a wide range of LGBTI-themed films.

Festival director Paul Struthers said the showcase聽would feature a range of comedy, romance and drama in the screenings from March 27-29.

“[It is] really important people know they can see聽queer聽films [at the Riverside Theatre],” he聽said.

The films聽in the line up聽include winner of My Queer Career short film competition BFFs, which co-stars Sigrid Thornton, and the winner of the Mardi Gras Film Festival Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature Boy Meets Girl.

The closing night will be screened in association with The Aurora Group, and will include guest speakers exploring the effects of addiction in the LGBTI community.

Tonight night will showcase short film BFFs, while Saturday features a double-header, with聽Boy Meets Girl聽and the musical聽Waiting in the Wings.聽

The聽weekend will conclude on Sunday with documentary聽Out in the Night聽and the drama聽Tiger Orange.
