VIDEO: Trans* teen reacts to her mum’s gift of first dose of hormones

This is the caption beneath the viral YouTube video from the mother of 14-year-old trans girl Corey Maison, who was caught speechless and in tears when she was聽surprised with her first prescription of oestrogen hormones.
In an interview with , Corey鈥檚 mother Erica explained that from a young age she聽was always feminine.
鈥淚 just assumed she might be gay,鈥� she told BuzzFeed.
It wasn’t until Corey was 11 when they watched a video of trans* YouTuber Jazz Jennings, that she聽realised that she was a girl.
鈥淪he said, 鈥楳om, I鈥檓 just like her, I聽am聽a girl’,” Erica recalled.
From there, the family took their daughter to see a therapist for trans* children who helped them through Corey鈥檚 transition, resulting in Corey receiving a puberty-suppressing implant months later.
It was determined that Corey had to wait until she was 14 before she could start hormone therapy. According to BuzzFeed,聽when Erica received the call to collect the oestrogen prescription after approval from Corey鈥檚 therapist.
Arriving home from school, Erica surprised her daughter with the oestrogen pills.
鈥淚t was so surreal. I was shaking and crying the entire trip to the pharmacy,” Erica said.
“I was trying to think of the best way to tell her that the day she had been waiting two and a half years for was finally here.鈥�
