Hallmark, Lifetime, and Netflix are amongst streaming platforms that are collectively聽 premiering around 143 new Christmas-themed films in 2021.

The 2020 Christmas movie slate was the first to feature several films with聽 17c起草社区I content including Happiest Season, The Christmas Setup,听 Dashing in December, and A New York Christmas Wedding.听

This year the new crop of frothy & festive Christmas films also includes RuPaul鈥檚 The聽 Bitch Who Stole Christmas, The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls, and聽 Under the Christmas Tree, the first lesbian romance film ever made by聽 Lifetime.听

Single All the Way

Single All the Way, set to drop on December 2, stars Out actors Michael聽 Urie (Ugly Betty) and Luke Macfarlane (Brothers & Sisters), alongside聽 newcomer Philemon Chambers in the story of Peter, (Urie) an eternally聽 single guy who convinces his best friend Nick, (Chambers) to pose as his聽 boyfriend when they visit Peter鈥檚 family for Christmas.听聽

Trouble and madcap hijinks ensue when his family announce they have set聽 him up for a blind date with a sexy personal trainer (Macfarlane). Will Peter聽 fall for the dishy thirst trap trainer or will he come to his senses and realise聽 (as the rest of his family already has) that Nick is the perfect man for him?聽聽

Urie told ET, “My mom is Kathy Najimy, my dad is Barry Bostwick and my聽 aunt is Jennifer Coolidge — if that isn鈥檛 some kinda gay Christmas miracle, I聽 don鈥檛 know what is.鈥澛犅�

The Bitch Who Stole Christmas

The Bitch Who Stole Christmas (VH1) is the latest holiday offering from聽 RuPaul, who co-stars with Raven-Symon茅, Anna Maria Horsford and Charo聽 as well as his Drag Race family including Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley聽 and Ross Mathews. Also making appearances are 20 Drag Race alumni聽 including Ginger Minj, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Kylie Sonique Love, Peppermint,听 Chad Michaels and Gottmik among many others.听

Mama Ru plays a fashion editor who sends a workaholic journalist to cover聽 the story of a Christmas obsessed town. While her mission is to dish the tea聽 about the preternaturally cheery townsfolk, she instead finds herself聽 competing in the town鈥檚 fabulous winter ball, and uncovers a plot that could聽 鈥渄estroy Christmas fore-evah!鈥澛�

Producer Randy Barbato said in a press statement, “There are 1,000聽 Christmas movies this year, but only one with drag queens. Christmas will聽 never be the same!鈥澛犅�

The Bitch Who Stole Christmas is set to premiere December 2.

The Christmas House 2: Deck those Halls

Jonathan Bennett, Brad聽 Harder, Robert Buckley, Treat Williams and Sharon Lawrence return in The Christmas House 2: Deck those Halls (Hallmark), a聽 sequel to The Christmas House, which was the first Hallmark film to feature a聽 same-sex couple.听聽

The sequel has brothers Mike (Buckley) and Brandon (Bennett) vying against each other in their bid to create the perfect Christmas house.听聽

Bennett took to social media to celebrate the reunion. 鈥淭he Mitchell Family is聽 BAAAAACK!!! The Christmas House 2 is coming to @hallmarkchannel this聽 Christmas! Double the family double the fun!鈥� posted Bennett.听

The original film generated high ratings (13 million total viewers) and good聽 reviews. While the relationship of the gay couple (played by Bennett and聽 Harder) wasn鈥檛 the focal point of the film, The Christmas House included a聽 subplot about gay adoption.听聽

In a 2020 interview with Good Morning America, Bennett said, 鈥淚t鈥檚 the first聽 time you see two men in love starting their own family [on Hallmark Channel],听 and that鈥檚 such a groundbreaking thing because representation is聽 important.鈥澛�

Bennett also told NBC News he was 鈥減roud of everyone at Hallmark Channel聽 for making the holiday table bigger and more welcoming and warmer this聽 year.鈥澛�

The Hallmark Channel has consistently received criticism for a lack of聽 diversity in its scripts and casting and for its removal of four commercials聽 from wedding planning company Zola featuring a lesbian wedding in 2019.听

The Christmas House was nominated for 鈥極utstanding TV Movie or Limited聽 Series鈥� at the 2021 GLAAD Media Awards.听

Under The Christmas Tree

In Under The Christmas Tree (Lifetime), Ricki Lake, Elise Bauman, and聽 Tattiawna Jones star in the story of Charlie (Jones) who is searching for the聽 perfect Christmas tree for the Maine Governor鈥檚 holiday festivities. She finds聽 the tree inconveniently located in the backyard of a marketing exec Alma聽 (Bauman). Tensions flare, sparks fly and love blossoms as the women realise聽 the tree has brought them together, with the sugary help of a local聽 p芒tissi猫re (Lake).听

Under The Christmas Tree is set to begin airing from December 19.听

In an interview with TheWrap, Lifetime head of programming Amy Winter said, 鈥淚t鈥檚 very important for us to feel like people can tune into Lifetime鈥檚聽season and see themselves here鈥� We don鈥檛 want to do something that feels聽 like an 鈥楢fterschool Special鈥� and it has to be a Christmas movie and it has to聽 be well-written and it has to be delightful.鈥澛�

鈥淚 feel like we鈥檙e the leader when it comes to Christmas and diversity and聽 inclusion and selecting great stories from all different walks of life,鈥� Winter聽 said, 鈥渁nd that commitment will continue.鈥澛�

鈥淓ven though we鈥檝e got Under the Christmas Tree, which is a real highlight,听 we鈥檝e got several others in the mix that are inclusive, whether they鈥檙e gay聽 couples or just characters, we鈥檝e been trying to make sure that people are聽 represented across the board,鈥� Winter said.听
