Sheridan was there spruiking the return/reboot of Packed to the Rafters to Australian television, titled Back to the Rafters, and took the opportunity to share with millions of people, 听that time they talked a well-dressed man out of ending his own life.
‘I Just Had This Bad Feeling…’
鈥淚 was walking down the street, it was quite late,鈥 the actor explained.
鈥淚 saw this guy and I had a feeling because he was sitting weird. He was dressed well with a suit and briefcase and I went over and said, 鈥榊ou shouldn’t sit like that because you might hurt yourself鈥 and he said, 鈥業 was kind of hoping so鈥 and so I went away and then I came back because I just had this bad feeling and anyway, it turns out he was waiting for a truck.鈥
Sheridan, who sounded like they were practising their anecdotes delivery for the talkshow circuit, continued to tell their story which included them convincing an apparently reluctant security guard of a pub to let them into the establishment, 鈥淚 told the security guard, you probably wouldn鈥檛 let this guy into the pub, but this is an extreme situation,鈥 Sheridan explained.
鈥淚鈥檝e never met him before, I鈥檝e just found him and I鈥檓 convinced that he鈥檚 about to take his life,鈥 said Sheridan.
R U OK Day Might Have Saved Another life!
Sheridan credits the R U OK Day initiative for making them look at the situation in a different way that evening, telling the radio show, 鈥渁nd the weird thing was, it was the day after R U OK Day, so that was one of the things that was on my mind when I went back to him.鈥
The pair stayed in the pub drinking for a few hours, during which time the man鈥檚 family was contacted and he was taken home safely. Sheridan did not mention during the interview whether they had the permission from the man to share the story.
