Young man lands dream job with Barbra Streisand in award-winning comedy
Jonathan Tolins鈥� award-winning comedy聽Buyer and Cellar聽is headed to聽Ensemble Theatre聽for a limited season, and is directed by Susanna Dowling.
The play follows star and gay icon Barbra Streisand, and聽Alex聽who lands his dream job working at the shopping mall in the basement of her mansion.
Alex聽鈥� played by Ben Gerrard 鈥� settles into his new role,听补苍诲听finds himself torn between the mesmerising glamour of his eccentric employer and the toll his brush with Babs takes on his personal relationships.
The comedy delves into hero worship and celebrity, and is poignant, classy, and full of laughs, just like the Funny Girl herself.
It鈥檚 been described as 鈥渁 fair-dinkum tour de force鈥� by the Australian and as 鈥渁 show that reminds us, without being strident, that it鈥檚 the person within that counts鈥� by the Telegraph.
Gerrard鈥檚 recent productions include聽I Am My Own Wide听补苍诲听You鈥檙e A Good Man Charlie Brown, and he鈥檚 also appeared on television in聽Deep Water,听All Saints, and聽Outland.
Buyer and Cellar聽is聽performing聽from Wednesday 11 October to Sunday 12 November, with聽4聽preview shows from 6 鈥� 8 October.
