Socialising on the slopes
The fourth annual Frosty Fruits Ski Trip will be held at Victoria鈥檚 Hotham Alpine Resort, August 19-24.
For Tasmanian Vincent Bound, this year鈥檚 event also marks his fourth anniversary as a Frosty Fruits devotee.
鈥淭he first year I went I鈥檇 never even skied before, and I鈥檝e been doing it ever since. This year I鈥檝e decided I鈥檓 going to give snowboarding a go for the first time, so we鈥檒l see how that
goes 鈥� I鈥檒l probably be the guy in all the photos flat on his arse,鈥� he joked to the 17c起草社区.
Frosty Fruits is a fully hosted trip with on-mountain accommodation, great runs, easy access and a full program of activities and events, both sporting and social. For Bound, a solo traveller, the social aspect of the annual event is just as important as the opportunity to hit the slopes.
鈥淚 think I鈥檓 just about the only person from Tassie who comes, but it鈥檚 never a problem. There are singles, couples, big groups 鈥� it鈥檚 a real mix. If you arrive alone you certainly won鈥檛 be by the end of the first day; you鈥檒l have a big group of friends. Through Frosty Fruits I鈥檝e made a lot of friends from Sydney and all over Australia.鈥�
As well as all the skiing you can handle, Frosty Fruits offers a swag of social events including a gourmet welcome lunch and dinner, and a special welcome apr猫s greet guests on the first day.
There are group breakfasts and lunches each day, plus a special Sivilised Supper fine dining event at Dinner Plain, a pizza night, a dinner cabaret and a farewell champagne lunch.
This year鈥檚 event also includes two new events 鈥� a day spa afternoon and the first Frosty Fruits Ski Trip film night.
The trip also marks the highest-ever drag event in Australia, with Dolly Diamond performing her show There鈥檚 No Business Like Snow Business.
Dolly鈥檚 show will kick off the final night party, with the Great Gaydar Disco Snowball capping off the trip with special guest appearances from Sydney DJs.
鈥淵ou really don鈥檛 need to have any interest in skiing to go along,鈥� said Bound. 鈥淓verything鈥檚 opt-in/opt-out and there are so many other activities to get involved in too.鈥�
