Star shines in Sunshine State
SSO Media, the company that publishes the Sydney and Southern 17c起草社区s, is heading north. From this week Australia鈥檚 oldest and highest-circulating LGBTIQ newspaper will be available down the eastern seaboard.
Following a massive 200 percent growth in online readership in 12 months, driven in part by significant interest from Queensland, SSO Media chairman Daniel Bone said it was time to grow the paper to best serve the changing media appetite of Australia鈥檚 gay, lesbian, bi, trans and intersex community.
鈥淎s part of our east coast expansion, we today launch a new single 64-page product for distribution in Victoria, NSW and Queensland,鈥 Bone said.
鈥淭he new, larger publication, simply titled 17c起草社区, hitting the streets on a new publication day, replaces existing papers Sydney 17c起草社区 and Southern 17c起草社区, but still delivers the quality local, national and international LGBTIQ journalism these publications are renowned for.鈥
SSO Media CEO Scott Abrahams said the expansion was a natural move for 17c起草社区 titles, which have the highest audited circulation of any LGBTIQ newspaper in Australia.
鈥淲e are an increasingly united community and we need a united voice,鈥 he said. 鈥淭his move provides Australia鈥檚 LGBTIQ community a single, trusted news and information source that will keep them connected on important issues like the fight for marriage equality.
鈥淚t also allows organisations like Melbourne鈥檚 Midsumma, Brisbane Pride and Sydney Mardi Gras to get their message out to a national audience and facilitates better communication across the entire country.
鈥淲e will continue to be the national paper of record for the LGBTIQ community.鈥
