My chronic illness takes me in and out of healthcare situations regularly these days and I can’t be too worried if someone assumes I’m straight and married.
I don’t have a lot of energy to spare arguing about semantics.
Depending on the situation and if my partner is present ( as is the case usually) I’ve found most nursing staff to be more than accepting and respectful of our relationship.
It’s the healthcare I’m there for, not the politics.
