
US Republican Senator Wants LGBT Content Trigger Warning For TV Shows
US Senator from Kansas, Roger Marshall, has called for a new television rating system, to warn parents about 17c起草社区I content in shows.聽
Marshall, a Republican, to the TV Parental Guidelines Advisory Board asking the board to update the rating system to disclose the inclusion of any sexual orientation or gender identity-related subject matter.聽
In the letter, Marshal explains the reason being the proliferation of 鈥渄isturbing content鈥 which has been 鈥減romoted in children鈥檚 programming, including irreversible and harmful experimental treatments for mental disorders like gender dysphoria.鈥澛
He goes on to write, 鈥淭he motivations of hyper-sexualized entertainment producers striving to push this content on young audiences are suspect at best and predatory at worst.
鈥淭he Board is obligated to ensure the rating criteria helps parents be informed about mature content before it is displayed to their children.聽
鈥淚n light of parents raising legitimate concerns on sexual orientation and gender identity content on children鈥檚 TV shows, we expect the Board to fulfill its responsibility in updating the TV Parental Guidelines to reflect these concerns.鈥

The letter was also signed by Senator Mike Braun from Indiana, Senator Kevin Cramer from North Dakota, Senator Mike Lee from Utah, and Senator Steve Daines from Montana; all Republicans.
According to the Kansas City Star, Marshall鈥檚 office provided examples of shows that should receive the rating change.聽
鈥淢arshall鈥檚 office shared four shows 鈥 鈥淒anger Force鈥 and 鈥淭he Loud House鈥 on Nickelodeon, and 鈥淪he-Ra and the Princesses of Power鈥 and the upcoming 鈥淒ead End: Paranormal Park鈥 on Netflix.鈥
The letter gives a date of May 18 for the Board to reply with a plan. It also requests an in-person briefing with members of the Board.聽
