Grab Your Mates For A Night of Chaos & Debauchery At La Clique

If your idea of a good night out involves a little bit of chaos, a lot of talent, and something you can鈥檛 quite explain the next day, La Clique has you covered.
The cult-favourite cirque-cabaret show for a limited 18+ season, running through til April 19 鈥� and it鈥檚 very much a 鈥済rab your mates for a wild night out鈥� kind of experience.
At its core, La Clique is a mix of circus, comedy, burlesque and live music, but that description barely scratches the surface. One minute you鈥檙e watching genuinely jaw-dropping acrobatics, the next there鈥檚 something cheeky, a bit raunchy, or just plain weird unfolding on stage. It keeps you on your toes in the best way.
The New York Times once called it 鈥淐irque du Soleil鈥檚 more brash, less inhibited and more naked younger sister,鈥� which feels about right.
What makes the show stick is how unpolished it feels 鈥� certainly not in terms of skill (the performers are wildly talented), but in the sense that it feels off the cuff, like anything could happen. It doesn鈥檛 take itself too seriously, and that gives everyone permission to just relax and enjoy it. You鈥檙e laughing one minute, slightly shocked the next, then clapping like mad because someone鈥檚 just pulled off something completely ridiculous.
It鈥檚 also the kind of show that works best as a full night out. HOTA is opening up its dining options and rooftop bar before and after the performance, so you can actually settle in, have a drink, debrief about your favourite acts, and make a proper evening of it.
There鈥檚 something quietly familiar in that energy for queer audiences, too 鈥� a bit irreverent, a bit playful, and not overly concerned with being neat or respectable.
Reviews have described it as 鈥渁 pure rush of intoxicating escapism,鈥� and that鈥檚 probably the simplest way to put it. It鈥檚 fun, it鈥檚 a little chaotic, and it doesn鈥檛 ask much of you 鈥� beyond showing up and being open to absolutely anything, of course.
La Clique is on at HOTA, Home of the Arts until April 19, 2026, 鈥� just don鈥檛 expect a quiet night.
