Hate group in the U.S. distributes anti-marriage equality booklet in Australia
AN anti-LGBTI group in the U.S. has distributed a booklet in Australia to warn the 鈥榓verage person鈥 of what might happen if same-sex marriage is legalised in the country.
The booklet was published in 2008 by Massachusetts-based 鈥榩ro-family activist organisation鈥 MassResistance which claims to supporters and activists across America and around the world.
However, it recently made the rounds at a presentation in Victoria on redefining marriage hosted by state president of the Australian Family Association Terri Kelleher.
At the presentation, Kelleher condemned the inclusive and recently-awarded efforts of the Safe Schools program, and activists handed out the booklet to attendees and touted it as helping people understand what was 鈥榬eally鈥 at stake.
It had previously been sent to all federal MPs in 2012 when a same-sex marriage bill was being voted on in parliament.
According to the booklet, marriage equality in the United States has directly led to a spike in HIV rates and cases of domestic violence.
鈥淪ince homosexual marriage became 鈥榣egal鈥 the rates of HIV have gone up considerably in Massachusetts,鈥 the booklet read.
鈥淎nd given the extreme dysfunctional nature of homosexual relationships, the Massachusetts Legislature has felt the need to spend more money every year to deal with skyrocketing homosexual domestic violence.鈥
It also warns with incredulity of the potential 鈥榟omosexual marriage onslaught鈥 in public schools if same-sex marriage is legalised.
鈥淸In Massachusetts] kindergartners were given picture books telling them that same-sex couples are just another kind of family, like their own parents,鈥 it read.
鈥淚t鈥檚 also become commonplace in Massachusetts schools for teachers to prominently display photos of their same-sex 鈥榮pouses鈥 and occasionally bring them to school functions.鈥
Pause for shock-horror. You can鈥檛 make this stuff up.
The booklet then addressed the growing visibility of the trans community, who unfortunately weren鈥檛 immune from the group鈥檚 bigotry either.
鈥淭he schools are already moving on to normalise transgender people,鈥 it read.
鈥淚n the elementary school where my daughter went to Kindergarten, the parents of a third-grader were forced to take their child out of school because a man undergoing a sex-change operation was being brought into class to teach the children there are now different kinds of families.鈥
In a post earlier this week, MassResistance founder Brian Camenker said whatever direction the marriage equality movement in Australia takes, they鈥檒l waste no time preparing for what will likely be their biggest battle.
鈥淥ur booklet has been reprinted in Australia and activists began passing it out this month,鈥 he wrote.
鈥淚n Warrnambool last Tuesday more than 60 people attended a presentation on what redefining marriage would mean for Australians.
鈥淲hen the audience was asked by [Terri Kelleher] if they鈥檇 been enlightened, hands went up and she was given a round of applause.鈥
Terri Kelleher from the Australian Family Association was contacted for comment.

I bet 1 million dollars the ACL organised this group along with Marriage Alliance to spread anti gay propaganda. Can we have this anti gay group MassResistance banned from ever entering Australia again? They are banned within Canada, Ireland, the UK and several other European Nations too.
The conservative religious right should practice loving thy neighbor regardless of their sexuality.
As an American transsexual woman who is married to another woman I鈥檇 like to comment on the 17c起草社区 article about Mass Resistance鈥檚 pamphlet.
Quoting:
鈥淪ince homosexual marriage became 鈥榣egal鈥 the rates of HIV have gone up considerably 鈥
Malarkey! The effect is exactly the opposite. Marriage actually reduces the infection rate.
The makes sense as stable relationships reduce the number of sexual partners. That applies to heterosexual relationships as well, by the way.
鈥渟kyrocketing homosexual domestic violence.鈥
No matter how many times a lie is repeated it will always be a lie.
鈥渏ust another kind of family, like their own parents,鈥
Sounds about right to me. Why should some loving families be treated differently from others? Heterosexual and homosexual families are equal in every way except in the minds of Mass Resistance
鈥渢eachers to prominently display photos of their same-sex 鈥榮pouses鈥
What is wrong with displaying a photo of the one you love?
鈥淭he schools are already moving on to normalize transgender people,鈥
Guess what? We trans people exist. We always have. And always will. Letting children know that some people are different reduces bullying and violence. And knowing that will help young people who are struggling with their own gender identity.
