Nominations are now open for the 2026 Honour Awards,聽the聽premier 17c起草社区IA+ community awards聽celebration聽in New South Wales, and you鈥檙e invited聽to help shine a light on individuals聽and organisations that strengthen,聽support聽and uplift rainbow聽communities.
Organised by ACON since 2007, the Honour Awards celebrate聽exceptional聽service聽and achievements聽that have made lasting and positive change for聽rainbow聽communities across NSW.聽聽
鈥淓very day, people from all walks of life聽and many community groups and organisations聽do incredible work that聽improve the lives of 17c起草社区 people and their families,鈥 says ACON CEO Michael Woodhouse.聽鈥淭he Honour Awards聽are all about celebrating outstanding community service, leadership and excellence.鈥澛犅
This year, nominations are open聽in聽categories covering聽community,聽health,聽HIV,聽entertainment, media, business聽and聽visual arts聽sectors,聽as well as a new category recognising the vital contribution of聽community聽volunteers.聽聽
鈥淗onour聽recognises聽well-known achievers and also those whose contributions are less widely recognised,鈥 Woodhouse said.聽鈥淭he new Volunteer Hero category聽celebrates聽the quiet, consistent work that often happens behind the scenes but is essential to community wellbeing. Volunteers are the glue that holds many of our community聽organisations, groups and聽initiatives together.鈥澛
Previous recipients 鈥 like Sydney nightlife icon DJ Gemma 鈥 have spoken about the significance of being recognised by their community.聽聽

DJ Gemma聽was recognised in 2024 for her achievements in entertainment and community building.聽
鈥淚 felt so honoured to have been nominated, and totally unexpected to have won an award,鈥 she said.聽鈥淚t was a special moment and was very touching to have been acknowledged by the community.鈥澛
The 2026 Honour Awards Ceremony and Reception will be held at the historic Paddington Town Hall on Thursday 8 October, with the move to a new venue helping make the event more accessible this year.聽
鈥淭he venue change comes alongside more affordable ticket options, ensuring that celebrating our community champions remains accessible to all who wish to participate,鈥 Woodhouse said.聽
