VictorsFood launches The Big Gay Cooking Class series
ONE of Australia’s leading food experience and cooking companies, VictorsFood, has just launched a series of classes aimed at the LGBTI community 鈥斅燼nd it’s all in the name of fun.
Aptly called The Big Gay Cooking Class series, these classes are a聽mix of saucy fun and serious food held on a fast-paced Saturday afternoon in Sydney.
“We just thought that it would be a fun thing to do more than anything else,” VictorsFood founder Victor聽Pisapia said.
“It would also be nice for people from our community to gather and enjoy our company while learning new cooking skills.”
The Big Gay Cooking Class series are split into three different cuisine-themed classes: Indian, Mexican and Australian鈥斅燼ll of which also happen to be VictorFood’s most popular themed classes.
“It’s just a way of doing something different,” said Pisapia, who has over four decades of experience as a fine dining chef in the US and Australia.
Each of the two-hour classes are held on separate dates, with the first one 鈥� Indian鈥斅爐aking place at the end of May. The classes also聽include a glass of wine or two (or a margarita for the Mexican class), recipes,聽and while they’re mostly presentation-based, there’s also some practical aspects so class participants can get “hands on”.
With the Indian Big Gay Cooking Class, participants can spice up their life with an聽introduction to South Indian curry by the “Love Goddess” Wanitha Tanasingam. Leaning how to create your own delicious, hot Indian dish, class participants will walk away never having to buy聽another jar of curry sauce or a packet of Pataks again.
On the other hand, the聽Mexican聽class is an introduction to “real”聽Mexican, from roasting spices to making corn tortillas and fresh salsa. Not to mention a margarita.
Finally, the Big Gay Aussie class sees participants聽learn how to cook with kangaroo meat, paperbark, bush tomatoes, lemon myrtle and more in a class with all the best of local bush tucker.
